“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us”.  Alexander Bell

Sometimes we think that when something ends or is difficult starting up, it is the end of the world. We tend to over-exaggerate, remain stuck on a previous situation which results in never seeing a new opportunity (a new door opening).

Have you ever thought that maybe, we are blessed with the gift of a new opportunity to start over?

Ask yourself, ‘What has this taught me? What wisdom and experience can I gather and use from this “closed-door”’. Lessons from past experiences have the capability to propel you in order to find and take advantage of new opportunities. But this can only happen if you are open to it.

Examples of closed doors

  • The end of a relationship
  • Being fired from work
  • Not closing the deal
  • Not getting the promotion you wanted
  • The idea you thought of is already a business

Remind yourself constantly: Most bitter endings are often blessings in disguise.

Tip 1: These new doors don’t just appear magically. You have to go out and find them, you have to make things happen. Become at peace with old situations and make use of the things and ideas you’ve learned along the way.

“The door to happiness opens inward, you just have to step aside a little to open it, because if you try to push the door it will close once again.”  Sören Kierkegaard

Tip 2: An excellent, short, fun book to help you with moving on to new things and adapting to change is: “Who moved my cheese” by Johnson Spencer! Highly recommended!
