According to the dictionary, this phrase is used when either: Other people seem to be in a better situation than you, although they may not be, or, when other circumstances seem more desirable.

Do you ever find yourself in such situations? In which you think everybody else has it better than you? Social media surely does not help as every other picture is a “reminder” of what perfect lives others are living. Yes. It’s a so called “dream” life.

Think for a second though… maybe, just maybe the person whose picture you are looking at is thinking the exact same thing about you! Maybe they want to be chilling on their couch or doing whatever it is you are doing.

At any given point in life, the easiest and most common thing to do is to search for meaning outwards. Comparing our lives to others. Comparing our belongings to what others possess. And sadly, base our happiness on the outcome!

The fact is that the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. The truth of the matter is that most times it is worse. Why? Because that is not your life. Your life’s current situation is the compound effect of all your decisions so far.

Therefore, before starting to looking on the other side of the fence, take a look at your life, appreciate all you have but also strive for all that you want!

Some key tips on how to do that:

Avoid comparing yourself to others via social media.

Focus on what you have and count your blessings.

If you don’t like what or where you are at the moment, set a plan to change it!
