Blast from the past- The Bomber Jacket
Reminding me of my school days in the 90’s, which for some generations would seem pre historic, the bomber jacket is back with a vengeance. It was so ‘in’ back in the day, I remember wearing it on top of my school blazer just to be seen wearing it, because taking our school blazer off, meant detention. (Oh, those American Academy school days!)
Anyway, the bomber is back and it’s everywhere! Originally known as the flight bombing jacket, (hence the name) it was created for military pilots during WW1 to keep them warm and comfortable, it has become a fashion staple yet again. The bomber is a trendy piece that will keep you up in the fashion stakes. I still haven’t made up my mind how I feel about this jacket. I think it’s not very flattering but, I suppose, if you choose the right kind of bomber, having in mind the fabric and weight you can find the best one suited for you. It has definitely been jazzed up since my day. Less padded, oversized, cropped, embroidered, embellished, you name it, it’s got it. The fur trimmings glam it up, as do the thick satins and silks – basically there are loads of designs from luxe to high street brands, so take your pick!

The statement- making Bell Sleeve
The A/W16 ‘must have’- the bell sleeve is fun and incredibly stylish and I am so drawn to it, I always have been. On the top half of whatever item of clothing, this sleeve undoubtedly makes a fashion statement. Romantic and dramatic at the same time, if you like the understated look, like I do, a plain outfit with a striking sleeve will go bang! The continuous motion of the sleeve is definitely playful but at the same time sexy and ultra-feminine. Suitable for any age, there are slight variations in structure and style, I love them all. Designer brands Céline, Ellery and Roksanda have perfected this look. Fortunately, the high street is trending it, giving us all the opportunity to add this beautiful sleeve to our fall/winter wardrobes.

The ultra-sexy, Over- the- Knee Boot
Why did we think they were so provocative in Pretty woman? Was it the patent leather, the height, the heel? Or was it the way Vivian’s outfit was all put together? because today, in a more refined up-to-date version these boots scream, ‘I’m so stylish!’ Although they have always been around, they have been re worked to create a killer look. Flat, blocked heel, platform, stiletto, leather, suede, velvet, embellished, embroidered, there are unlimited styles and colours to suit all tastes. Worn with skinny jeans or pants, long or short skirts and dresses the knee high is your go- for- boot to look glam.
Gianvito Rossi’s knee highs are sleek and seductive creating a sexy silhouette, Aquazzura’s elegant designs are of the stop and stare variety, No.21’s flat is incredibly classy and versatile as is Rupert Sanderson’s creme suede boot and Saint Laurent’s are simple and understated. I could go on and on. This is the winter that should see you in your knee highs.
