Over the next few weeks, I want to focus on great skincare essentials by age.

This week, we will look at skin care for the 30s, next week the 40s and the following week for the 50s.  We all age differently but there are certain products that we should introduce into our skincare routine in order to keep our face in tip-top condition.

Encourage Cell Turnover through Glycolic Acid – it is really important to do this because as we age, skin turnover slows down. In our 30s we should introduce Glycolic Acid into our skincare routine. Glycolic Acid comes from sugar cane and it is an excellent exfoliant. Depending on your budget, you may want to go for an in-salon Glycolic Peel or alternatively, a product for home use from Alpha H called Liquid Gold. Both are great! For more information about Alpha-H’s Liquid Gold, please see my video.

Use a good quality moisturiser and eye cream. Keep your skin hydrated. Some great moisturiser options are Decleor Hydra Floral, Sarah Chapman Skinesis Daily Defence and Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. For the eye area, Sarah Chapman Eye Recovery, Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream and Gatineau Melatogenine are all very good. For the evening I recommend, Decleor Hydra Floral twice a day, Sarah Chapman’s multi-award winning nighttime elixir called Overnight Facial or Elemis, the new Peptide 4 Night Recovery Cream-Oil.

Add antioxidants into your routine – antioxidants safeguard the health of your skin and protect the skin by eliminating free radicals.  For a good quality vitamin C serum, try Alpha H or The Hero Project.  Another excellent antioxidant and the omega-rich option is the Superfood Facial Oil from Elemis. You can use either product or both of them together for a real antioxidant power combination.

Stay away from sunbeds and wear SPF every day especially if you are spending the day in the sun.

Drink plenty of water daily.

The other key ingredient to starting using in your 30s is Niacinamide, known as vitamin B3.  I could write a whole article just about Niacinamide – it does so much good for the skin. From boosting skin immunity, regulating oil flow, to the treatment of hyperpigmentation. Alpha H Liquid Gold Intensive Night Serum, Decleor Hydra Floral White Petal Skin Perfecting Sleeping Mask and The Hero Project Night Drops are fantastic.
