“Love? Above all the things I believe in love. Love is like oxygen. Love is a many splendored thing. Love lifts us up where we belong. All you need is love!”

Yeah.. we get it!! Great things can happen when individuals are perfectly and properly paired! It has something to do with chemistry, and how oxygen turns to glitter and you, all of a sudden, get butterflies in your tummy.

I suppose we can say that the same philosophy stands when you pair good wine and food together.

What if in reality we really enjoy single privileges? Like, not having to share your comfy bed, or watching a movie that you hate, or in this case, enjoying a glass of wine, without any perfect pairing and the additional calories?

Find my go-to recommendations on wine’s that can be enjoyed on their own and still taste freakin’ delicious:

Bubbly

Paladin Prosecco D.O.C., Tondo, Spumante Dry – liquid velvet:

Tondo means round, and trust me, they could have not picked a better word to describe this beauty! Amazingly soft and silky, Prosecco Dry Paladin is a sparkling wine so gentle and round, those who seek harmony and pleasure fatally fall madly in love with it.

Very aromatic with notes of wild apple and spring blossoms. Well-balanced flavours and pleasantly citrusy.

Flat white – the other kind 😉

Marques de Caceres – Antea, Barrel Fermented – aka pure cream paradise:

Toasty, spicy and with notes of brioche. A delicious liquid to taste, with a very elegant and refined complexity. A white wine of distinction! Hey, we are always keeping it classy!

Rose, cause la vie en rose?…

MASI, Rosa Dei MASI – the Supervenitian legend:

A fresh, fruity rosé wine, yet complex and elegant at the same time thanks to the use of the appassimento production method. Salmon pink in colour, with cherry reflections, it has intense aromas of perfectly ripened raspberries and wild cherries. From the first sip you can tell it is an elegant wine, well balanced with lively and refreshing acidity.

Red – cause, heck it’s Valentine’s

Mega Spileo Cuvée III Red – the Greek lover:

Only by watching the scenery of the vineyards in Mega Spileo, Kalavrita, Greece, you can understand the greatness of each wine produced on this location. A light bodied, off-dry red wine that can also be enjoyed chilled! Deep red in colour with a complex aroma of red and black fruit syrups, sweet spices and vanilla. This wine is for sure, one of my all-time favs!

Just as it doesn’t matter if you are alone on this V-Day, it’s surely no big deal if you choose a wine to be enjoyed on its own J

Don’t get me wrong: I, still, am a hopeless romantic and of course all the above wines can be perfectly paired to food. But: on some occasions, knowing you are allowed the alternative, makes “forever” a bit more bearable!

So, pour yourself a glass of wine, put on your favorite Beyoncé mix  and dance your night away! It will still be worth it 😉

See you next week!

Until then.. Strike for a glass half full !
