What does changing your perspective really mean? Can someone see things from a different point of view? A different point of view does not mean changing who you are. It means consciously changing the way you see things at a specific moment, or consciously changing your thoughts, which in turn will change your attitude towards a person or a situation.
Thought provoking quotes that will help you understand “Changing your perspective” :
- Instead of complaining that the rose bush is full of thorns, be happy the thorn bush has roses!
- There is not a single, unifying, objective truth. We’re all limited by our perspective.
- You cannot lose. You either win or learn
- The same winds blow on us all. The setting of the sails will determine our direction in life.
We all go through tough times, but how we view what we are going through is completely up to us. There are 24 hours a day for all. The same wind blows on us ALL.
The way we perceive different situations that affect everyone, will manifest into our reality!
So, since the same wind blows on us all, adjust your sails to your advantage. Your sails can mean your attitude, your thoughts, your actions or your beliefs.
4 steps to change perspective: (needs effort and intentional action)
- Accept that you or your view/opinion of things can change.
- Accept that you do not know everything.
- Put in the effort to try and see things from another perspective.
- See your life change bit by bit.
Sometimes we automatically fall into predetermined thought patterns. This happens due to the way we were brought up or affected by society amongst others. Changing this “automatic programming” doesn’t always come naturally nor easily. But sometimes, a shift in perspective can be enough to show us that the things we thought we could never have were there for us all along.
Trust me, you CAN change. Now it is entirely up to you!
“It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view”. – George Eliot

PS: Changing your perspective isn’t the same when it comes to serious mental issues. For example, you can tell someone with clinical depression to change their perspective all you want, but I highly doubt you’ll get any results.
