“Salt in the air, sand in my hair” my fav quote seen as I am totally summer happy! Summer is also a state of mind. We are in laid back mode, relaxing, unwinding and fun filling our days.
Relaxing also means less need for makeup so this week is all about my ideal summer make up kit. Due to humidity it’s best to keep your makeup light, otherwise you end up looking cakey and messy. The few products you need to have with you to create a fresh summer look are:
- SPF – Whatever you do, don’t go out without an SPF as this can lead to premature skin aging. I use Liquid Layer SPF 30 by ELEMIS which provides water resistant SPF 30 protection, against UVA, UVB rays and pollution.
- Tinted moisturizer – If you can’t stand going out without foundation I suggest applying a light layer of a tinted moisturizer, like Nude Finish Tinted Moisturiser Spf15 by BOBBI BROWN. It comes in various shades and it’s a creamy yet ultra-lightweight formula that delivers sheer, undetectable coverage.
- A multitask product – Purchase a product that does it all – lips, lids, cheeks and give your look a soft, one-color focus. I like and use Beach Stick in Moon Beach by CHARLOTTE TILBURY which blends easily and illuminates your skin for an irresistible summer glow. I also like fine-one-one by BENEFIT which is a sheer brightening colour for cheeks & lips.
- Waterproof mascara – There’s nothing worse than mid-day mascara or eyeliner mistakes. The heat from the body and the summer’s high temperatures affects mascaras and most of the time they end up melting and smearing. A waterproof mascara or even eyeliner won’t smear, run and can even handle a swim! My favourite one is In Extreme Dimension Waterproof by MAC. Its waterproof, tear proof, smudge proof and humidity resistant!
- Bronze away – Add powder bronzer on your face to deepen your complexion and then brush a shimmery bronzer to highlight the high points of the face – high cheek bones, bridge of your nose, and your temples – to really make your skin glow. Use something like hoola matte bronzer by BENEFIT and then 152 Illuminator by INGLOT.
