The name, ‘My Precious Junk’ is fantastic, catchy and perfectly encapsulates Suzi Zeminides’ designs. My artist friend turned jewellery designer/creator, has a line of handmade silver jewellery that are real works of art. Suzi, who lives in London, is one of three sisters, all with an artistic flare. She started her journey from exploring fine art to professional mosaic portraiture which eventually led her to her own line of jewellery four years ago.

Today Suzi’s jewellery designs are very different to how they started out. She used to make glass blown beads, specialising in melting glass in a hot flame. Her beaded necklaces and bracelets were all unique and one of a kind. At the time, handmade silver was not her main focus. Following her 2012 exhibition at my house, Suzi shifted her focus to working with real metals. Her custom made designs and hand crafted silver pieces are popular in London and can be found in 3 boutiques as well as on her e- shop.

With new designs constantly in the making, Suzi’s eye catching collection is easy to wear both day and night. She loves hearing her bracelets clinking and clanking and enjoys stacking her necklaces and rings to make more of a statement. Symbols of daises, hearts and feathers have their place somewhere on each piece, either as the main design or as a finishing touch. Personalised engravings are also her trade mark. My feather rings and engraved bangles haven’t left my hand since I received my ‘junk’, it’s as if I have no other jewellery!

Suzi’s loud, friendly persona is definitely attention grabbing. She loves talking about her ‘junk’ and is so happy she started this venture soon after her son started school. Although she is very much a hands-on mother she loves having her own thing to concentrate on whilst son and partner are out of the house. Her workshop is in her own ‘pigsty’ as she refers to it. She works on an old farm where a cow shed, pig sties, stables and chicken coups have been converted to art studios. Suzi’s own pigs sty boasts of the most amazing British botanical garden view. It’s hard not to be creative, in such a setting I suppose!

Her ‘Precious’ customers always return back for more of her ‘junk’. This comes as no surprise as her pieces are handmade, authentic and versatile. I’m lovin’ mine 😉
