Winter is definitely not my favourite season simply because I completely loathe the cold temperatures, everyone round me is either ill or about to get ill, darkness comes super early and the list goes on and on. While most of these situations are out of my control, there is one winter problem that I actually can do something about- dry skin, extra dry, itchy everywhere, dull and generally irritated looking skin.  If you take the preventative steps you can go through winter without any real skin problems. The truth is I like to keep it really simple and to the point!

A friend once told me that a good moisturizer is all the face needs. And to be absolutely honest that is all I have been putting on my face for the past 5 years. I’m not a believer that anti-wrinkle creams will help me rid me of my wrinkles! After all,

“Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been”

Mark Twain

To keep my face healthy-looking and well moisturized I use Aqua Réotier Water Gel Cleanser by L’Occitane It is a mild cleanser that doesn’t dry up my skin. Anything harsher causes a pulling effect on my face and I seem to get dried out. I then use C E Ferulic® With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid by SkinCeuticals which is a patented daytime vitamin C serum that delivers advanced environmental protection and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness, and brightens skin’s complexion topping it up with Hydra-Essentiel Rich Cream – Very Dry Skin by Clarins. Finishing off I use Hyaluronic 3D Eye Cream by Bioten which is designed to offer intensive hydration with immediate long-term action. If it is daytime then I put a layer of sunblock since it is one of the most important factors of youth and helps prevent any skin disorders.

Your face isn’t the only part of your skin that you need to be gentle with — it’s important to take extra care of the rest of your body, too. I like to use Shea Butter Pure Pampering nourishing body wash by Dove as its mild formula leaves my skin well moisturised, then I use a cream instead of a lotion as it is thicker and definitely more hydrating. Shea Ultra Rich Body Cream by L’Occitane is my fav as it intensely nourishes my skin.

And there you have it…a tried and tested recipe for super happy skin until spring shows up again!

‘Till next week
