Protein balls make a super healthy snack option. They are packed with nutritious ingredients and are a great source of energy to fuel your body between meals. They are gluten and dairy free and make a great snack for vegans too!

Protein balls are very healthy and easy to make. Made with a long list of healthy ingredients, the secret is to achieve the right texture for rolling the mixture easily into balls.

Made with dates, oats, nut butters such as peanut or almond butter, seeds such as chia seeds, pumpkin or sunflower seeds. You can add extra goodness and flavour by adding raw cocoa, shredded coconut, berry powders or cinnamon and you can make them a powerful detoxing tool by adding in some spirulina.

This is my favourite protein ball recipe:

Ingredients:

160 gr. dates – pits removed (add in hot water for 5 minutes before using)

50 gr. almonds

60 gr. raisins

2 tbsp. raw cocoa

2 tbsp. peanut butter

70 gr. pumpkin seeds

Instructions:

  1. Pulse the almonds and pumpkin seeds in a food processor or blender until they are in small pieces. Place in large bowl.
  2. Pulse the pitted dates and raisings in the food processor until they form a ball. Add the peanut butter and mix well.
  3. Combine the nuts with the dates mix, add in the cocoa and pulse until combined.
  4. Roll 16-17 small balls.
  5. Put in an air-tight container and refrigerate. They will keep fresh for about 1 week to 10 days.
