Anticipation, exhilaration, enthusiasm… are only a few of the words to describe the feelings I felt recently at the “The Catwalk Project” from Alexander College / UWE Bristol.

I am gradually coming to the end of my makeup course at “The Makeup Pro by Barbara Nikolakaki”. My final project was a fashion show, doing the models’ makeup and living through the whole experience. The designers were the graduates of the BA(Hons) Fashion Textiles of Alexander College so the feeling of overwhelm and zeal was plentiful. The girls on the course and I had been getting ready for it for about a month but nothing prepared us for the real thing!

The scene – models coming and going, makeup all over, hair being styled and sprayed, clothes here, there and everywhere, rehearsals taking place… and all very new to me. We had to be on our toes the whole time as we needed to do touch-ups and alterations within minutes. The adrenaline was hitting sky high and the excitement was so intense. The key was team work and I believe we had that. Three groups coming together and working as one was hard but the result was remarkable. The models all went on stage on time and all the designers were very pleased with our work. If I could do it all again I would…in a heartbeat!

Team work is key and making dreams come true is never too late! If you want something and believe in yourself, you can do it! Opportunities don’t come to those who wait but to those who go out and make things happen! So my advice to you this week is to go out there and make things happen for YOU! I know I made the right choice back in October when I enrolled myself in this makeup course. The last eight months have taught me so many things, both literally and metaphorically and I wouldn’t change a single thing. Big thanks to everyone who was part of the journey and to my teacher and mentor Barbara Nikolakaki!

Till next week ladies…
