It’s winter and it’s an opportunity to write about my fetish for knits, I thoroughly enjoy wearing them. December saw a blistering winter strike Cyprus, quite an unusual phenomenon and ever since, my knitwear has excitedly been brought out of hibernation. Being a jumper lover I’m always on the lookout. I must admit I hate it when they go bobbly therefore I try to base my choice on the type of knit as much as possible. This however, doesn’t always apply as the style might overrule.

Finding the right one depends on body type and purpose – style versus warmth. I personally don’t like them fitted, I prefer the loose, oversized or chunky type. Not only do they suit my body but I find them much more interesting. In general, a woman’s sweater is the perfect final layer to any winter outfit. It cosily embraces the body while providing a comforting protection against the chill. Let’s face it you can’t wear a shirt or silky top to survive the cold, can u?

It is important to have your sweater essentials that suit your daily lifestyle. Add colours or seasonal pieces when and if you come across them. The timeless, can’t -live-without styles in solid neutrals are hard to find so invest in them don’t hesitate. I find I always return to the basic colours year after year. Black, navy, grey, crème, tan and khaki are my wardrobe must haves.

There were and are so many to choose from this fall/winter. One of my favourites is the Ganni Brooks roll neck. Seen on many fashion influencers and bloggers in turquoise and pink, this cable knit sweater has taken the fashion world by storm. I love it!

Mango’s light grey roll neck (Picture 1) and Zara’s charcoal grey, over-sized bell sleeve jumper also found a place in my closet this winter. (Pictures 2 and 3 are the same knit with a twist).

The jumpers I tend to go for are not necessarily the least flattering to be honest. I love my chunky knits so I just balance out the look I want with the rest of my choices. The thinner knits I find are handy for layering and are convenient under tight jackets. I’ll leave the cardi’s for another post. Now is the time to grab a bargain and just get cosy.
