I must confess that lockdown has affected me, BIG TIME! I’m desperately trying to maintain a routine during this difficult time and OKAY, sometimes I manage but some days I find it difficult to leave my bed.

As I’m constantly scrolling on Instagram, I can tell you that there are plenty of things to do while in quarantine. (No, I don’t mean that!)

Cooking has become popular, exercising at home is now a must and Tik-Tok is the new black. People have started reading books, writing quotes and cleaning their rooms. Of course everyone is watching Netflix, sending corona-virus-memes to their friends, still bragging about not going out and taking part in various “Instagram challenges” but I guess you know all this, don’t you?

Well, since we’ve tried almost everything these days and we still have plenty of time on our hands, I’d suggest taking care of your skin too. So, if you’re too broke to get an on line delivery from Beauty Line, keep reading. I’m about to show you some zero-money, DIY face masks that will blow your mind and help you kill some time.

  1. Yogurt face mask for dry skin:

THE INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon honey

HOW IT WORKS:

The Greek yogurt is loaded with lactic acid (which helps soften your skin) and probiotics which helps soothe inflammation. Mix it in a bowl with oatmeal and honey, leave it on clean skin for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse it off with warm water. Trust me, your skin will feel so soft you won’t stop touching it.

  1. The Acne Remedy:

THE INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
  • a drop of tea tree oil

HOW IT WORKS:

Tea tree oil on its own is too harsh to slather over your skin. However, this mask uses hydrating, calming aloe vera to wipe out the potentially irritating effects while soothing the irritated, broken-out skin. Leave it on clean, dry skin for 10 minutes and rinse it off. It’s very important to make sure to moisturize afterward.

  1. Egg mask for oily skin:

THE INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tablespoons fresh aloe (or, in a pinch, aloe vera gel)

HOW IT WORKS:

I understand that outing raw eggs on your face sounds a bit extra but you have to keep in mind that egg whites actually contain a natural antibacterial than can help prevent clogged pores while absorbing excess oil. (Of course don’t try this at home if you’re allergic to eggs.) On the other hand, when it comes to aloe, we all know that it’s a master in the calming, soothing, and hydrating departments. So, if your skin is overproducing oil as a result of irritation, this face mask can save your life. Mix the ingredients, leave it on clean skin for 10 minutes and rinse off.

I hope I helped!

xoxo,

Andrea
