For a very long time I wondered what the secret was to makeup that lasted longer than my own. At the beginning I thought it was the use of skin primer before foundation. The answer though was none other than makeup setting spray. Little did I know I was about to get hooked on it and now I can’t let anyone leave without spraying them my ‘magic in a bottle’ as I like to call it!
Setting spray is the veil on top of your makeup that will protect it and make it stay in place. It’s never easy to keep your makeup looking fresh all day long, but a good makeup setting spray can help keep the need for midday touch-ups to a minimum. Setting sprays usually come in the form of a spray or mist and the whole purpose of using a makeup setting spray is to help prevent your makeup (foundation, lipstick, eye shadow, and more) from smudging, creasing, or fading quickly.

The last of our three suggestions is PREP + PRIME FIX+ by Mac. This finishing spray can also be used before applying makeup to hydrate skin and prepare it. After makeup application you can spray it again to finish it off and set it.

Makeup setting spray should be the finishing touch to your beauty routine. After you’ve fully applied your foundation, mascara, and lipstick just hold it 8-10 inches from your face and spritz it on in an “X” and “T” motion. Just make sure to avoid spraying it in your eyes!
