I’ve got a good feeling that this year will be awesome, don’t you think?

To kick off the new year, we must learn to deal with crises. A “crisis” by definition is a time of intense difficulty or danger. A time when a difficult or important decision must be made. Sometimes it’s worth getting anxious about, but most times (like the story below) it is not!

Recently I went through my own “crisis”. My facebook account was hacked and wrongfully disabled.  OMG right?! How do you deal with this situation? Why would someone do this? What can be done about it?

A facebook crisis is by all means not a real, psychological, or dangerous event. But like a million other things in our daily lives, we tend to make problems bigger than what they are! It could be enough to spring you into panic mode, clouding your problem-solving skills and leaving you feeling numb, as if in a crisis.

Here are key questions to ask yourself next time you find yourself in your own crisis.

  • What can I do about it?
  • And have I done all that I can?
  • What’s the worse that can happen?
  • Is there an opportunity to be found at the end of it?
  • What can this teach me?

PS: When you or a friend are facing a serious psychological crisis resulting from a loss or grief, it is best to consult a therapist.
