Timeless pieces

Bumping into this jewel of a boutique many years ago, I was drawn to Eugenia Christodoulou’s hospitable, kind, warm approach. As a customer she won me over immediately, her honesty and understated style enticed me to revisit until we gradually became good friends. Witnessing first hand, Crème Noir grow and develop into the boutique it is today, I have to say it is the friendliest place to shop on Makarios Avenue in Limassol, Cyprus. Not only is it a fashionistas haven but her customers have become dear friends that just pop in for a coffee whilst on their shopping spree in the area. Think Italian. Think stylish. Think the place to be. This is Crème Noir!

  • Tell us a little about you and your family

Born and raised in Cyprus I’ve always loved fashion and style. After completing my degree in fashion design, I met my husband and business partner Andreas. Back then he was an owner of a jewellery store and before I knew it I was designing jewellery for him. I have two amazing sons who support me in everything I do.

  • From jewelry store to luxury designer boutique, a great change a great move how did that come about?

The jewelry part is still alive and kicking, however, my dream was to have a boutique so after the birth of my second son, my husband helped me realise my dream.

  • Crème Noir started off with accessories. When and why did it evolve into something more?

It started with accessories because I always had a thing for shoes and bags. I think deep down I knew it would develop into something more but I wanted to take things slowly. My clients were part of my decision into making Crème Noir into the boutique it is today. They wanted to combine their accessories with a whole outfit. The Accessories Crème Noir opened in 2008 and in 2010 I started to bring complete collections.

  • What brands do you house?

They vary from season to season but some of Crème Noir’s main brands are No.21, Bruno Manetti, Current Eliot and Rupert Sanderson.

  • Do you believe these are the brands that represent you – why?

Absolutely. I not only house these brands because they represent me but because they suit our lifestyle in Cyprus and can be worn day and night.

  • Jenny, who is your style icon?

Actually I don’t have a style icon but I really like and admire Stella McCartney

  • Tell us some key pieces a 40+ woman should own?

I don’t believe a woman over 40 needs key pieces more than she needs better pieces therefore less. A woman at this age should not follow fashion but instead know her style and what suits her.

  • How would you describe Crème Noir?

Chic, elegant, feminine, trendy and my customer’s second home.

  • Have you changed your brands over the years – tell us about this.

Every season new brands make their way to the boutique so Crème Noir always has an element of surprise for its friends and clients.

  • What makes Crème Noir stand out from other boutiques?

It houses exactly what a modern woman with style wants. It is an all-time classic boutique which has pieces that are wearable year after year, personal service, advice and style tips, a cup of coffee or champagne and small details which make you think you are shopping in Milan.

‘I feel at home. It’s like coming to a place where you feel loved and cared for. Whatever I try on makes me feel beautiful and stylish. Everything is so elegant. I’ve bought many pieces from Crème Noir over the years so much so that my wardrobe is filled with timeless, ever fashionable pieces from there. It’s like having a personal stylist! Eugenia dresses you from tip to toe in the best way possible!’ Yuliya Mezentseva.

‘It all started with two pairs of shoes 10 years ago. Since then Eugenia has become a dear friend. Crème Noir is my place of relaxation and happiness. I am found there once a week as it is a meeting point for a coffee and a good old chat! Eugenia is a warm-hearted person that makes you feel like you are at home away from home. Not only do you feel special and comfortable but you can shop anything for any occasion!’ Nicole Thrasyvoulides.
