Baby Boom

It’s already been four years since I was last pregnant but I’m anxiously expecting to become an aunty for the first time and I couldn’t be happier. I’m experiencing many different changes in my sister-in-law’s skin now she’s pregnant and this is what has prompted this post.

It’s not only your body that changes during pregnancy but your skin as well as it goes through an incredible hormonal rollercoaster. It might dehydrate, peel and also become very sensitive. Some women might even experience hormonal acne which in turn may result to skin discoloration. No need to worry as most of these changes tend to disappear once you have your baby and the hormones return back to normal. One thing’s for sure though, during pregnancy you shouldn’t neglect your skin and you should always consult your professional beauty specialist with any concern you might have.

Love and cherish your body during this memorable and significant period of your life. Enjoy the change and treat it with the respect it deserves!

Use specialized products with gentle scents that moisturize your skin and provide extra elasticity to help avoid stretch marks. WMC’s Maria used Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil and vows upon it but one of my favourite products is ELEMIS Japanese Camellia Oil Blend. Camellia oil is a pro-plant collagen which assists the skin’s elasticity aiding the prevention of stretch marks and keeping the skin super supple during pregnancy. It can also be used on your baby to hydrate their delicate skin and scalp or to give them a wonderful baby massage.

Swelling is another problem you face during pregnancy. Unfortunately, it’s not something you can avoid, however, it’s definitely something you can alleviate! ELEMIS Instant Refreshing Gel with arnica promotes lymphatic circulation,  relieves swelling and once again can be used on toddlers.

“During pregnancy it is important to nurture and listen to your body, so it is very important to be secure in the knowledge that you are using products that are designed to support you during these very demanding months” Noella Gabriel, creator of ELEMIS Therapies and Co-Founder.

Don’t ignore your body which realistically ‘works’ for 2 for the duration of 9 months. It deserves the best care …! Give yourself the chance to enjoy a couple of facials a month or even a massage which can encourage relaxation and help with any sleeping disorders. I know that many think that during pregnancy you must avoid any massage treatments BUT appropriate and specialized treatments especially for pregnant women are allowed. It is important to choose the right place where the therapist is a professional.

I recommend you to try the Nurturing Massage for Mother-To-Be since it has been designed to help relax the body as it dramatically changes through the nine months.

Have a beautiful pregnancy mummy to be!
