After a long day what I look forward to the most is a hot bath and some much needed unwinding. It’s one of my favourite times of the day as I relax and just let the day “wash away”. Don’t you feel that you ruin it though by having to dry off to only layer on the lotion?

My younger self saw no need to put on a body lotion. Yes, I’ve always had very dry skin but a body lotion always felt like a time waster…” I’ll use it if it’s a real essential” was my excuse. Wrong!

A good rub of a body lotion right after a shower seals in moisture and prevents skin from drying. It works wonders on scaly, dehydrated skin that feels rough and looks unattractive and regular use of a body lotion provides many other benefits too such as re-hydrates dried skin, replenishes extra dry spots, smooths out calluses, feels and smells delicious and ultimately helps yourself relax! So don’t be lazy, pat (never dry completely) yourself until your skin is slightly damp and reach for your favourite body lotion or body butter before reaching for those Pjs.

A few favourites are:

ULTRA RICH BODY CREAM by L’Occitane

This has been my go-to body cream every single winter for the last 5 years! It is ever so moisturizing and I love this brand because I can choose the percentage of shea butter I want depending on the problem I have (5%, 10%, 25%, 70%- body butter). The effect of this body cream is long lasting and I have managed to get rid of dry skin that can be incredibly uncomfortable.

Aromatherapy – VANILLA PATCHOULI – Body Cream by Bath & Body Works

I first came across this scent two years ago when I visited their shop in Milan and ever since I have been obsessed with it! It is such a delicious yet subtle scent that lingers on. It is again an ultra-rich body cream which deeply nourishes skin conditioning it with Vitamin E & shea butter.

Crème de Corps by KIEHL’S

This body cream is rich but definitely non-greasy and it deeply moisturizes even the driest parts of your body! It is packed with Cocoa Butter and Beta-Carotene and although it has no apparent scent the velvety feeling it leaves on your body is definitely worth it!

Now I know much better than to get dressed without first coating myself with some body lotion from head to toe. Whichever cream, butter or lotion you decide to go for just be sure that you will be left with extra soft, supple skin after.

Till next week…
