When I was younger I never used to worry about how my hair really “felt”. If it was styled ok, (meaning frizziness was under control) I was content and didn’t want anything more. I never used to worry about how healthy it was, because it rarely had split ends but even if it did, cutting it 2-3cm every 5-6 months was the norm. Some years (and hundreds of hair experiments) later, I realised that my hair was starting to show signs of wear and definitely tear! And that’s when I started discovering and using various hair oils and creams so as to try and restore its original shine! This trial and error slowly became a kind of addiction, so today I’ll talk to you about my 5 most favourite hair oils/creams that definitely do as they say and are worth every cent.

It is somewhat impossible for me to fathom how a person goes about their day-to-day life without the use of any hair oils/creams. I mean “Your hair is the crown you never take off”.

“One of the biggest benefits of hair oil is adding shine. It replenishes the lipid layer on the surface of the hair, which creates a reflective surface for light to bounce off. This is what makes hair look shiny”

One of my biggest concerns is maintaining my hair in the best possible condition especially after highlighting it. I know there is always a “price to pay” after highlights and that I can’t undo the effects of chemical treatments and heated styling tools but this is where hair oils come in to play. Oil has the ability to help dry and fragile hair look its best possible version. And for this reason I love using  OI Oil by Davines. After washing my hair, I spray it all over concentrating on the ends while hair is still wet. Doing so I trap as much moisture as I possibly can. (By the way it smells divine)

OI Oil adds shine and softness to hair while also detangling and fighting frizz, working especially well on coarse or dry hair. The hair structure is left protected, without weighing it down.

Another oil I love to use whenever I can get my hands on, is REVIVE OIL by J Beverly Hills. This is a more concentrated hair oil so I can’t use it daily but whenever I do the result is unbelievable! Smooth, shiny hair with flyaways very controlled.

Formulated with coconut, argan and grapeseed oil to help strengthen the hair’s elasticity while retaining moisture to better protect from the heat, resulting in smooth and shiny hair.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of OLAPLEX  (magic in a bottle) so this won’t come as a surprise. OLAPLEX No.6 Bond Smoother. This leave-in treatment is honestly one of the best formulas I’ve ever tried! When I use it I wash it after 2 days and my hair feels so smooth and looks so calm. Even if I don’t style my hair and just let it be, the result is amazing!

A leave-in reparative styling cream eliminates frizz, hydrates & protects all hair types. This concentrated leave-in smoothing cream is excellent for all hair types including coloured and chemically treated hair. OLAPLEX N°6 strengthens, hydrates, moisturizes and speeds up blow-dry times while smoothing. Eliminate frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours.

This  8H MAGIC NIGHT HAIR SERUM by Kérastase is a recent addition. It has a been a real life saver, as I slightly damaged my hair from excessive use of the straightening iron and this serum has honestly brought my hair back to life! You apply it before you go to bed and even though you might feel that it will weigh your hair down, the next morning you wake up and your hair feels hydrated and it even prevents frizz.

Overnight beauty sleep nourishing hair serum for dry hair. It delivers 8 hours of overnight hair nourishment creating soft hair which easily detangles.

And there you have my four current favourite hair oils and creams and remember…

Life is short. Make every hair flip fabulous!
