It’s football season again which makes people want to stay in, order pizza and drink beer!
Saying that, the world of wine is so vast that it can definitely rise up to the occasion and satisfy all food, wine and sports fans.
Good food and wine pairing, is a goal good enough to win any game, while guarantying 110% of pleasure!
Find below a few traditionally enjoyed flavours, paired appropriately with our favourite beverage:
- The Appetizer – a combo of fried deliciousness:
French fries, mozzarella sticks, even crisps and salted bread sticks! Choose a well-structured, refreshing, lively sparkling wine which will not overpower the flavour of your salty snacks! Its crispy character will be a great start to a night worth remembering. So, pop a cork of bubbles and let the party begin!
- Wings – ‘cause things need to get messy:
Any self-respected football lover understands the need of saucy deliciousness and craves a kick of heat for a boost on a big game night.
Riesling would be my go-to wine for a refreshing aroma of citrus and apple.
- Pizza – no further explanation needed…:
Such versatile food that can be topped with anything that comes to mind. Ideally, each pizza should be paired based on its toppings. However, we do love a mix and match, to satisfy the entire group.
Whether a peperone, a Hawaiian or a margherita, my guess is that we should choose the SuperRose! A well-structured rose wine, which combines the aromas of a refreshing white wine, with the body and structure of a red one that will sure set you up for another bite!
- The grill – ‘cause we have so much self-respect:
Whether a rib-eye, BBQ glazed ribs or a bacon cheese burger, go for a fruity, juicy, dry Zinfandel. It is no mistake that Americans know their grill. Hence, pairing with a Californian red, will just deliver mouth-watering results.
