How to get that ‘perfect’ cat eye, one of hardest things to master! Today’s blog will give you some quick n’ easy tricks for getting a cat eye that isn’t wobbly, crooked or uneven and which definitely brings out your “feline” self!
Get your “bad/most difficult” eye out of the way first then it is easier to replicate the line on your “good” eye. Use a liquid eyeliner pen as opposed to eyeliner gel and a brush or liquid eyeliner. I find that the pen is easier to hold because I have more control. My favourite is Eye Liner Plume by Lancôme. It has the perfect pointed tip that lets you draw a thin, precise line.
So, the steps I like to follow when drawing a cat eye line are:
- Firstly, I need to be relaxed. If I’m not, I tend to draw either a crooked line or two different lines on either eye! When I draw my lines I do them standing up and really close to the mirror because I can see better and get “really near” the lash line. If, you feel you need to have a bit more control you can sit down and secure your elbow on a table and then place a mirror slightly lower than eye level so you can look down into it.
- Then the drawing begins. I usually start drawing my line from the midpoint of my eye outwards and then go back and complete it after I’m done with my wing. (TIP #1: Try not to pull the skin to much if you want to taut your eye because this will result in a wobbly line). The trick here is small strokes along the lash line.
- Once I’ve drawn my main line, it’s time to do the wing. What I do is extend the line past the outer corner always pointing the line diagonally up towards the tail of my eyebrow at roughly 45-degree angle. (TIP #2: the desired angle is usually found if you place a brush to the side of your nose and extend it to the end of your eyebrow).
Then I draw a second line that goes from the end of the first line down to the middle of the lash line, connecting it to my initial line then fill in the space between the two lines and complete the wing.
- Finally add a couple of coats of mascara to finish off the look.
That’s the perfect cat-eye liner made as easy as possible…(my way). Always remember that you can go as bold as you feel like going because ultimately real beauty comes from within!
Till next week…
