Is the lack of time really an obstacle?
There are 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds in a day. Those 1,440 minutes are available to everybody. The difference in results whether on a personal or business level is how well we use that time.
It’s quite interesting to see how we surrender control to so many outside factors. For example, I want to start the gym but I don’t have time. I want to travel but I have no money. I want to have a better job but the government is against me. I would like to stop smoking but I have too much stress. All of these are outside factors, which we are able to have some control over.
Tips on perceiving time differently:
- When you want something badly enough you can find time to do it. Whether it’s learning a new skill or reading a new book, you can find time in between kids drop offs or listening to audiobooks in the car.
- Reduce time wasted. We can waste a lot of time on social media, watching a T.V. series or just sitting on the couch. We all need our relaxing moments and sometimes, “Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.”
- Ask for help: You might be able to do everything on your own, but at what cost? Could you ask for help with e.g. taking the kids to classes, so you can make some time? Food for thought!
- Break down how much time is needed for doing X: Sometimes we do not even allow ourselves to think that for example reading a book may only take 10 minutes a day. Or that exercising can be done in 30 minutes! Ask yourself the right questions so you get the right answers. Instead of I don’t have time, ask how can I find time?
“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.” Harvey Mackay
Take back control and find some time for you!
