A Summer Bride!

Summer Season is easily associated with wedding season! Many friends are getting married so I thought I’d share a few of the dresses which caught my eye. What springs to mind when thinking of a summer wedding is sand, sea and soft flowing fabric swaying in the warm summer breeze. The boho, lace and ribbon style bride is, I agree, romantic and dreamy but I have always gone for the more tailored, minimalistic look which explains why I fell in love with both of Meghan Markle’s royal wedding dresses. The Stella McCartney, her evening gown, would have also been my choice if I were having a summer wedding. The simplicity of the gown with its striking neckline just made it a head turner. A perfect dress for a wedding, on the beach too.

Let’s face it, sometimes, all you need is an interesting neckline, an illusion sleeve, or a unique accessory for a stunning wedding day look. No frills, no fuss no mush!

A lot of wedding dresses are admittedly, extravagant, from intricate bead work to layers upon layers of tulle to fine lace detailing. And that’s okay! As a bride, it is your prerogative therefore you should choose a wedding dress that makes you feel your best “you.” The dress must reflect you, your personality, your taste and above all it should set the tone of your wedding. If that means glamouring up in all the glitz a gown has to offer, do it! But what about brides who like simplicity? If your visions of “the one” are more clean, architectural lines, and zero fuss—you’re a minimalist bride. That means finding a simple wedding dress that will make your statement. That would be my choice.

As a minimalist, we prefer to keep things simple. A simple wedding dress can have more impact. Remember your wedding dress is an extension of you and who you are and if you are someone who doesn’t clutter your life why would you clutter your wedding dress?

The simplicity of a minimal wedding dress requires extraordinary craftsmanship. It showcases your figure subtly and sexily. Going for a simple wedding dress doesn’t mean you’re restricted to body-skimming columns or mermaid silhouettes. Plenty of designers, like Viktor&Rolf, Lela Rose, Carolina Herrera (to name a few) offer voluminous shapes with a simple aesthetic — even ball gowns. The minimal effect is achieved through structured fabrics and pristine design that reads clean, elegant, and impactful.
