Every year we all get that same feeling of panic as we realise that Christmas is miraculously just around the corner that there is still so much to do and we still haven’t got our heads around to thinking about the presents, dinner parties the Christmas decorations and all the trimmings that go with it. Trying to cram it all in often destroys the build-up. Because when you leave it till the last minute it ends up being more stressful than pleasurable. This year I have decided to start preparing early so I can enjoy the magic that comes with the Christmas holidays. (another post loading)

Alexis my nearly 4-year-old toddler triggered off this organised, pre-planned way of thinking. Thank god he can’t remember the minimal décor that took place last year in our home. ‘Mummy cool’ came up with a super cool idea last year and bought only real decorations for décor so they could just be thrown away after. No packing or unpacking needed. It was heaven! My cutting corners idea unfortunately is not going to be the case this year. It has already been a month that the whining and pestering has been taking place about when the tree is going up. He wants to see the fairy lights on the tree, the ho! Ho! Ho! (Father Christmas) ornaments on tables, the star on top of the Christmas tree, basically the whole works! He can’t wait to see our house transformed into Christmas wonderland and all this inside knowledge is thanks to You Tube as he’s only just started nursery! Getting his way, a common phenomenon, the Christmas tree and decorations were put up last Saturday and to be honest, we made a family bonding time of it! The excitement in my little one’s eyes was so worth it!

With the tree out of the way and the ‘to do’ list ready, I’m now in search of the perfect presents for my loved ones.

A right approach lessens the burden and intensity of what is now a commercial Christmas. It is always the thought that counts, so give yourselves time to put thought into your buying or crafting. Buying presents slowly and in your bouts of free time from now on, will by default result in the perfect gift. There’ll be no more last minute ‘let’s find anything presents’ for me. A clever, Christmas present is something that you wouldn’t indulge in for yourself but will undoubtedly be appreciated by the receiver. The last few years I’ve always been rushed off my feet and that has killed the present buying process for me.

With the Christmas buying out of the way, why not spend the ‘hopefully’ cold, winter nights beautifully wrapping your well thought of gifts, with carols in the background and the tree’s fairy lights blinking away.

When was the last time you put effort into your Christmas wrapping?
