Summer, winter, and fall may have their fans, but there’s something about Spring that makes me love it so much. It’s a change of attitude. A change of life. This is the time of year we feel more positive, energised and hopeful.
The coming of spring means so much more than just “April Showers bring May Flowers. It means that once again I can breathe in life, and look outside and see that life gives me life especially this year.
Spring fever usually sets in well before the warmer temperatures and green grasses return, making this the perfect time to take in soothing scents like lilacs, blossoms, hyacinth and daffodils. The smell of fresh, cool air wafting into an open window or the scent of laundry that’s been hung out to dry in the sun are some of the greatest moments of spring. And, of course, the pleasant smell of freshly cut grass after that first mowing of the year is a reminder of all the summer fun just around the corner.
Spring to me means…
Wearing our March bracelets and counting the lead up to Easter
Bringing home branches from the Almond tree now that it is in full bloom
Chasing butterflies
Adorning vases with tulips
Being able to go outside and not feel so dead
That summer is even closer than before
That I can walk on the ground in my bare feet and not shiver
Planting seeds and other plants outside
That I can leave my house without my coat
Being able to read outside with the natural light and warmth
Putting down my electronics because I want to be outside
Going on comfortable runs outside because this is the best time of year to do so
Going to the beach and being able to catch the rays of the sun after my dip
Being able to sit outside at night with my family and just talk
And finally, having myself back.
Spring simply adds new life and new beauty to all that is.
