We are at the August end of the most unusual summer but with all things being equal we should try and enjoy every single minute of what’s left of it and in Cyprus we have lots left!

Summer season is shimmer season and it still reigns in September!  Bronzers not only give a sun kissed glow but also enhance that well-earned summer tan.

Because of the light-reflecting particles they contain, skin looks radiant and healthy! Saying that there are a couple of things you need to keep in mind when using them.

  • Use a brush you can ‘handle’ and by that I mean if you feel like using a big fluffy one then fine but remember that big often overdoes an area and there is a fair chance of ending up having a different colour looking face than the rest of your body. So use something that is appropriate for you and your makeup skills.

  • Apply the bronzer only on the spots that are naturally hit by the sun, those being the forehead, top of the nose, along the cheekbones, and jawline. You don’t want to change your colour; you simply want to enhance those areas.

Caking your brush with bronzer and then swiping it on directly onto skin is a recipe for disaster. The bronzer’s pigment can go on too heavily concentrated in one area. The best technique: Swirl, tap, apply.

To apply your shimmer bronzer simply swirl your brush in the product lightly, tap it to get rid of any excess product and gradually layer it on your face. It’s really difficult to remove it if you put too much whereas if you slowly build it up then you achieve that sun-kissed look.

My two most favourite products that I have been using alternately over the years are the Illuminating Bronzing Powder – Bali Brown – by Bobbi Brown and the Terracotta Light – Natural Warm – by Guerlain. Both are A*products!

Till next time
