I LOVE masks. They are the best when you need a quick fix. You can literally see the results as soon as you wash them off; how cool is that!? Of course, not all masks do the trick. Today is about the best of the best from the green world, the tried and tested version that I can always rely on, either for clients or myself.
To begin with, study your skin and understand what it needs before you proceed to applying a mask. Sometimes your skin is easy to read, for instance you may see dryness or spots. In my experience, I find it’s a lot more complex than that. One can be dehydrated, congested and dull all at the same time so don’t feel obliged to use one mask everywhere, instead, listen to your skin and apply the appropriate mask(s) on the areas you need it.
Skin Concerns #1:
Detox, Purify, congestion, Acne, Inflamed acne, rough skin, dullness.
May Lindstrom – The Problem Solver. The ingredients are a fusion of antioxidants -rich raw cacao, activated bamboo charcoal, various types of clays, salts, and exotic spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, clove and nutmeg. These spices warm up the skin in order to get the blood flowing and to oxygenate the area. Oxygen heals the skin from the inside out. The clays, charcoal, salts and cacao purify and decongest the pores without ever drying the skin. It’s a beautiful balanced blend of wild harvested organic and biodynamic ingredients. I strongly recommend trying it even if you don’t have acne, but face issues of congestion and dullness. This mask will bring your skin back to 0, back to its purest cleanest state, allowing you to start fresh with clean pores. Your skin needs this detox session once a week to get rid of impurities. It can also be used as an overnight spot treatment.
Skin Concern #2:
Dry, Dehydrated, rough skin, minor congestion, eczema, rosacea, irritation, sunburn.
Twelve – The London Mask. This mask is everything you ever wanted and more if you are struggling with the above skin concerns. It is a highly moisturizing organic rice, purified kaolin and natural squalene based mask, enriched with comfrey derivates, mallow, cucumber and the purest vitamin B5. It soothes, hydrates, plumps and softens even the most stressed skin. Even though it has clay in it, the squalene doesn’t let it dry on the skin, which means it won’t dehydrate your skin as some other clay based masks sometimes do. If let’s say you’ve accidently overdone it with scrubbing or acid peels, then this is the perfect thing to apply to sooth and help the skin heal faster. Pro tip: amazing for brides. It purifies but also softens the skin, which means the foundation will sit better on the skin. It’s gentle enough to be used on eczema and rosacea; it’s designed for hypersensitive skin.
Remember! You don’t need a million and one masks in your beauty cabinet. You need one or two high quality, active and potent masks that deliver the best results every single time. As someone who constantly tests out new masks, trust me I always go back to my beloved May Lindstrom and Twelve masks because I just don’t need anything else.
As always, if you have any questions regarding these 2 masks, feel free to get in touch!
